About

Thanks Mom for dressing me up like Spock for 2nd Grade pictures. Gotta love the 90's

Welcome to Jombow. This space was developed as a creative enclave for visual artist, Daniel "Jombow" Levinson. He was born and raised in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains. Calling Denver his home for nearly 40 years, some things have changed and other things stayed the same. For instance, he still draws with pencils on paper. He still takes photos with actual cameras. He still paints acrylic murals on walls. In fact, he lives a couple miles from where he grew up! Yet now, he has two kids, a car he owns and a shit ton of student debt. Which is why he became a teacher...to never pay those loans off. At least, his head was in the right place. It's all about the youth as they say.  And his knees and lower back have aged terribly fast. This is not a change he is proud of. The rest of his history involves competitive, kicking-the-ball-around (soccer), traveling the world (contracting Malaria, dysentery, etc.) and getting lost in the woods (hiking).

Think of this space as part gallery, part studio, part classroom and part party. Levinson likes to use art as a way to have fun in life. As Papa Ata used to say, "enjoy yo life". His Ghanaian, study abroad coordinator was on to something when saying this catchphrase. Life is really about finding joy through the hard shit. Because in Levinson's experience, there have been piles of it. He didn't get the nickname, "Dano Bano" for nothing. In fact, this guy has seen a lot of shit in his time on earth. Somehow, thankfully, he has been able to convert some of those experiences into genuine, good ole fashion, artwork. Better than that, he has offered his shit up for sale!

Hopefully you can find a thing that catches your eye. An art print. An original. A class to learn a new art skill. Or maybe you need an artist with a big, Jewish nose, to muralize your boring walls. Either way, he is here for you, because he cares about you. And he loves you, usually unconditionally.
